Last night I had two conference calls that were totally different and yet, similar as well. The differences were clear because one couple was in their early 60’s and the other couple was in their late 20’s. But both are going to be able to get out of the debt situation they have because the idea of debt elimination resonates with them.
The older couple has unfortunately had some income setbacks and has had to rely on living off the credit cards. They are going in the hole every month to the tune of $2000 a month. We were laughing last night because the wife was telling me that she obviously has been stressing about this and one night she had a dream that Dr. Phil, in that blunt Texan vernacular, told her that she needed to get a plan and stick with it. Turns out by selling their house and downsizing their life, which they have wanted to do for some time anyway, they will be able to get rid of their crushing credit card debt and still have $50,000 to work with. To them, investing in the debt makes total sense for them.
The younger couple inadvertently got into a contract on a house that they were told they qualified for but now it turns out they don’t. Their only option is to do whatever they can to improve their debt-to-income ratio so they can actually qualify for the house and then flip it. They are going to make enough to get rid of their credit card debt and then find something that they can actually afford to live in.
The bottom line is that any financial situation can only be enhanced when you have a debt elimination plan that you always are focusing on. No matter what situation comes up, because you will have been working your plan, you will always have more options than would have if you didn’t have a debt elimination plan in place. Remember, if you focus on your plan, you can actually be debt free and pay off your mortgage in less than 10 years.
I’m off to New Braunfels tomorrow to speak so enjoy your evening. I can’t wait to see what my nephew is wearing tonight.
Take care and focus, Keith Phildius

I had a conference call today with a couple that are so excited to have found this information. They have decided that they are completely comfortable investing in their debt rather than investing in the traditional way for now. The wife explained to me that even if they were earning more interest by investing traditionally (which they are not) they would still be investing completely in their debt. The idea of being debt free including the mortgage in about 5 years, for them, makes all kinds of sense. She even indicated to me that she works in the financial community and can’t believe she never was exposed to information quite like this. They are using one of our programs to basically do it on their own and they are so excited about their future now. We both laughed at all the financial and business classes we have taken and no one took any time to show us “debt elimination”. I can’t tell you what a wonderful feeling it is to hear the excitement in a student’s voice or to see their face light up in a seminar when this information resonates with them. It’s priceless.
I’m starting to take these experiences for granted but it did strike me today when I left the car dealership. My car was acting funny and so I had them check the battery. It was very low and needed to be changed. I told them I was going to do it myself. Now for some of you, this might not be a big deal but I remember when that would have been such a blow to have to put $70-$80 on my card because I didn’t have the cash to get a new battery. I can remember that feeling. When I was installing it myself I thought how real life things that come up are so much easier to deal with when you pay cash.
Take care for now and focus. Keith Phildius

I spoke at SMU the other night and we had a great turnout. There were 47 people signed up for the class and I think 38 showed up. We had a great time even though the room was a little warm. It struck me about half way through that the first seminar I ever conducted on this subject was held at the SMU main campus in Dallas. I had a partner that night and we actually used slides and overheads, if you can believe that. We had close to 60 people that night and I was hooked because even though we knew we had not done our best, the material was the star of the show. I remember a gentleman, who had to be in his 80’s, that came up to me afterwards to tell me how much he appreciated the class. The man that was with me that night never did another seminar but I continued because I knew that I needed to spread this information to as many people as possible. It has been 10 years since that first seminar and I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to share this information. If you are reading this and you came to one of my seminars in the past, I would love to hear how your doing now and how your life has changed since taking the class. Shoot me an email: keithp@investinyourdebt.com Keep up the work because, eventually, you will be debt free if you focus on your plan.
